PeeJay White Island Tours

Professional marine operators will take you on a 6 hour journey to New Zealand’s only active marine volcano, White Island. This steaming beauty lies 49km off the coast of Whakatane. Step aboard PeeJay, one of two boats purpose built for White Island Tours and let the crew take you on a journey you will never forget.

Upon arrival, trained guides will give a safety briefing before you start your tour within the inner crater of White Island. Hissing fumaroles, glittering crystals, steaming mounds and standing on the edge of the mighty crater are all part of the tour. On your trip home you might even see dolphins and whales. Tours depart daily, weather permitting. Lunch and safety gear are provided.

You have the choice of several short flights above Tauranga and Mount Maunganui or to go out on a longer helicopter flight with guided tours to the geothermal wonderlands of Mt Tarawera, Hell’s Gate and White Island, New Zealand’s only active marine volcano. A flight to Rotorua with its beautiful lakes and geothermal parks can be arranged too and a combination of a scenic helicopter flight and a Jet Boat Safari is another possibility.

Just 10 minutes out of Tauranga, you’ll find the water wonderland of Waimarino.
